Old Field 98 Pinot
Opened the much-anticipated Old Field 98 Pinot Noir that we picked up
during our recent trip to the North Fork of LI. Owner Chris Baiz
personally recommended it and we bought it without tasting it. Chris
described it as a “Santa Barbara-ish” Pinot Noir.
First taste: seems a bit thin. Maybe Long island isn’t the ideal place for high-end Pinot. I let it sit some more, then decided to decant it, to give it a fair shot. The Pinot aroma was more prevalent, but still underwhelmed by the taste. Let’s see how it tastes tomorrow.
